Means that Chris Johnston weighed in 77-15 of smallmouths over three days to win the Toyota Series on the St. Lawrence River.
And he lost a 6 and a 6 ½.

So even with a “subpar” day of 22-01, he would have hit the Century Mark. I’ve described that would-be achievement as the “Great Bronze Whale” and Chad Grigsby came close with 97-08 in a 2018 FLW event on St. Clair, I figured we might never see it. So many things have to line up for it go happen. Of course one of them is that you have to be fishing in a four-day tournament. Johnston didn’t have that chance, but I hope he went out on Sunday to try to hit triple digits, even unofficially.
With the cities on and near the river aggressively courting tournament circuits, for the first time in a while I feel like they better build an extra century belt and tote it north.
